Losing My Egypt...

In lights of the “peaceful transition of power” that is the greatest sign of the democracy that is the United Stated of America, my heart sank.

As inspiring and hopeful as Obama’s speech was, as brilliantly eloquent and savvy as it was, I was feeling very emotional, because I realized what my country has never had, and probably never will.

With a president that has been in ‘office’ since 1981, Egypt has NEVER seen a democratic transition of power from one leader to another. Egypt has never seen fair, public, democratic and REAL elections. The one time we fell short of it, was a joke, with the one almost-real candidate still thrown in prison to be made an example of, to all those who DARE to pretend to dream that one day we can have real proper political parties with real potential presidential candidates.

Obama spoke of dignity, power, democracy, progress, development, leadership. Spoke of the founding fathers and the country’s struggles, he spoke of dreams coming true and USA coming a long way, he spoke of discrimination ending and new beginnings, he spoke and spoke and spoke and I just sat there, feeling sorry for Egypt, for all that she will never have.

Wondering where has OUR history gone? Our struggles, our battles? Where are our rights and our pride and our money? Where has our mind taken us? Our people, our faith, our RESPECT...where has Egypt gone?

Where is Egypt and where are all the Egyptians? Where is the fruit of all of our work and effort and hardships? Where are our sons? Our army, our leaders?

Where are you PEOPLE? Where is your heart? your love? your dignity?? Where have they all gone? Where is our art? our music, our culture and our civilization? Where did all the history dissolve to?

What happened to all the wars we fought? All the equations we solved? All that we’ve overcome? Where is our future? where is our Destiny taking us? What the hell will happen to us?

Where are your principles? Your morals? Your dreams and your ambitions? Where did the scientists and inventors go? Where are the writers and the journalists? Where are the politicians and opposers? Where did our patriots run to? What happened to our bravery? Our chivalry?

Where’s our Egypt? Where the hell did my country go?

Whereas it is Egypts right to have and be proud of its history and heritage,,it is also their responsibility to build, record, and earn it, Egypt is one of the most beautiful places on earth,,that is slowly being destroyed, The constant fighting is chipping away at her beauty and legacy,,We here in America fought ,,died and destroyed much in our battle for freedom ,,,our sons and daughters of history lost lives ,,homes,,children,,land,,heart and soul,,but our history was fought for until we won it,,we were dealing with tirany and a people who at that time wanted to posess us and all we had,,we fought to sit down and talk,,we fought to negotiate a peace,,we fought to determine our own fate,,it is now time for your fighting to end and sit at the table of negotions and TALK you can have all the things you want for your country but,,not at the price of somebody ELSES RIGHTS,,,we did not tell England back then that we would have our freedom and half their land,,we asked only for what was already here,,to sever all ties to Engish rule,,
When we fought Japan we did not ask or want to own Japan,,or even to rule over it,,we asked only for them to GET OUT OF AMERICA We did not want to run it,,
We do ask ALL countries to be fair and just in its policies,,but fairness is negorable,,AT THAT TABLE AGAIN,,Human life is valuable, Our Natural Resources are VALUABLE Now we are standing on a world that may not survive for us to be fighting over,,its now time to set fighing aside,,the fighting which is destroying some of that precious earth,,wasting time fighting over what in the face of GLOBAL DESTRUCTION seems trivial, TALK PEOPLE TALK,,save what is left of your country ,,,and our earth,,and by our earth i mean yours too,,,its all of ours,,,English Arab,,Jew,,Gentile,,Chinese ,,Japanese Austrailian and MORE,,,ALL OF OURS,,and for our MOTHER EARTH it is time to rescue HER from all of US,,,WE HAVE WORK TO TO DO,,,and it begins with conversation,,simple HONEST forgiving,,give and take conversation,,
It starts here,,,and it should start NOW

Sarah, your cry is a genuine one,we at times seat down and look at our leaders, then we compare them with others who are making it outside there, then we realize there is a lot to be done,we have to stand up,however slow the cause will take,we have to stand up for the voiceless,we have to make people know that they are being oppressed they have to be told that they can stand up and realize their leadership potential,we have to stand up against political dictatorship we have to open space for all,i say this because that low class Egyptian down there faces the same challenges as those a low class Kenyan would face under the same leadership,as Africans it is highest time we spoke with one Voice, our leaders caring for those across boundaries.Egypt comes from a vibrant History academically and religiously it is a country i have always dreamt of visiting,a nation that has a long untainted history.
Actually where has our Egypt gone?

Duncan thank you so much for your response. You’re so right and you really gave me something to think about. Despite how badly we’re being ripped off of our rights, I look around me and I feel like these people will almost never do anything about it. They don’t know and they don’t want to know and they don’t care to know.
These women who now walk down the streets completely covered from head to toe in black, the men who run after cars filled with foreigners for a couple of pounds, the teens who are so over occupied with drugs...it’s a lost cause..It’s so sad.
Egypt HAD history, had academic and religious affluence, but now, Egypt doesn’t even deserve to keep her name.
Truly, if you look at my last post too, you’ll see they’re already doing just that, changing street names to more islamic ones...I don’t know what to think anymore.

Sarah, You should put our Egypt in prayers and help bring the difference by speaking out what you feel the way you are doing, believe me you, even if only two people will be helped by your insight this will be change you are bringing and good change in this case, you shall give hope to some who would never have known what hope is.

I dont know about Sarah but i put Egypt in my prayers to the goddess every day,, I pray that her rich heritage is not forgotten or destroyed,,i pray that the beauty of the ages does not become a flattened shattered MESS ,,,i pray that some day i will see that which i believe is mine in a past life ...since i was a very small child i have been drawn to Egypt,,the pyramids,,the art the arcitecture the fact that it was the first civilization,,i know i am bonded to it and yet i know i probably will never get to see it,,at least not in this lifetime,,I pray that the people will stop their endless warring that will eventually bring it to total ruin,,i pray that the artifacts that were stolen will somehow find their way home,,i pray that the gods be generous with their love and i pray that the children will grow up,,,healthy and happy,,,but,,,so far,,no one has answered my prayers,, In a message dated 2/18/2009 5:45:33 A.M.
